Glutathione and the aging brain

What is the purpose of this trial?

This study is being done to examine the effect of aging on levels of glutathione (GSH), an antioxidant, in the brain.

The Specific Aims for this pilot study are: 1. To determine the feasibility of a study to quantify intracerebral levels of GSH as measured by 1H MRS at 4 Tesla in young and old individuals; 2. To begin defining the relationship between peripheral markers of metabolic status and intracerebral GSH; 3. To explore how aging alters the relationships between intracerebral GSH levels, human functional brain connectivity, and neurocognitive performance.
